Jessica Chastain: I'm not a sex symbol

Nov 27 2012, 9:02am CST | by

Jessica Chastain insists she doesn't consider herself a sexy woman because she was such a tomboy at high school and never liked things other girls did.

Jessica Chastain is shocked to be considered a sex symbol.
The sultry redhead - who is famous for her roles in 'The Help', 'The Debt' and 'Lawless' - doesn't see herself as object of desire having been a tomboy as a child and she is always surprised when she is told she is attractive.
Speaking in the new issue of the UK edition of GQ magazine, she said: ''When someone tells me I'm a sex symbol I'm like, 'What?' But I'll take what I can get. That'll teach all those boys back in junior high [school]. In fact, I hope my very first boyfriend, the guy I dated for one month and who broke up with me at the Valentine's Day dance - I hope that boy reads this!''
Although she doesn't think of herself as any man's dream woman, Jessica does enjoy getting flattering comments from the opposite sex.
She explained: ''It's a huge compliment when someone says you're attractive, especially when I was such an awkward kid - I was very tomboyish, with very short red hair, running around with cowboy boots on.''
Another reason why Jessica doesn't understand the attention she attracts is because she doesn't behave like lots of other famous women.
The screen beauty insists you won't ever see her stumbling out of nightclubs and she wants to stay as anonymous as she can be in Hollywood.
She said: ''I'm certainly not the sort of actress to fall out of a club at 2am with no knickers on ... But I hardly ever get recognised. If I go outside and walk around for 10 minutes trust me, no one will run up begging for an autograph.''

New trailer for Chris Nolan's 'Interstellar' shows off the strong '2001' influence

Jul 26 2014 11:54am CDT | Source: Oh No They Didn't!

When Christopher Nolan and Matthew McConaughey took the stage of Hall H on Thursday afternoon, it was a genuine surprise to most people in the room. As it turns out, it was a pleasant surprise for the studio as well, who weren't sure it was going to happen until very early Thursday morning. If they had not been there, the new trailer for the movie would have had to speak for itself, and I suspect it would have been fine. Instead, the director and the star did a nice job of setting the tabl ...

Two Brand New Eleanor Rigby Posters

Jul 25 2014 3:56pm CDT | Source: Oh No They Didn't!

Yes, you might recognize the name on them. I absolutely love the one with Jessica Chastain’s iconic red hair as an outline. It’s rare to see a film — any film, let alone a love story — with women as whole human beings. Movies like this used to exist but somewhere along the line movies with women in them at all began disappearing and the ones that were left seemed to feature hollow, predictable characters, but for ever ...

Lindsay Lohan won the ‘Comeback Award’ in Ischia, Italy: sad or funny?

Jul 20 2014 7:10am CDT | Source: Celebitchy.com

I was wrong last week when I said that Lindsay Lohan came to the Ischia Film & Music Festival in Italy for no reason. I assumed she just came to party on yachts with shady sugar daddy-types, maybe get fall-down wasted at a few significant parties plus cause a lot of crack drama with the paparazzi. You know, Typical Cracken. Well, she did go to Italy for all of that, but she was also there to get an AWARD. Yes. The organizers of the Ischia Film & Musi ...
