Paul McCartney joins 12.12.12 concert

Sir Paul McCartney, Kanye West and Bruce Springsteen will all perform at a Hurricane Sandy benefit concert called 12.12.12 in New York next month.

Sir Paul McCartney will perform at a Hurricane Sandy benefit concert in New York next month.
The Beatles musician will star in the 12.12.12 show, to be held at Madison Square Garden in the city, alongside a host of other music stars including Bruce Springsteen and Kanye West.
Proceeds from the concert - billed as ''a showcase of music royalty'' - will go to the Robin Hood Relief Fund, set up to help the huge number of people in the Caribbean and US who have been stricken by the superstorm.
Also confirmed for the bill are Jon Bon Jovi - who is from New Jersey, one of the worst affected areas by the storm - Billy Joel, from Rhone Island, New York, another hard hit area, another New Yorker Alicia Keys and Roger Waters.
When the hurricane hit last month, Jon cut short a promotional tour of the UK to head straight back and see his family and help with relief efforts.
A source said at the time: ''He was really incredibly anxious for his family who were stuck in New York in an apartment and was desperate to be reunited with them.
''The family house in New Jersey was also hit quite badly and he needs to go back to assess the damage and what can be salvaged.''
Many other stars have made relief efforts, notably a 'Hurricane Sandy: Coming Together' telethon at the beginning of this month which featured Bruce, Jon, Billy, Christina Aguilera, Sting and Jimmy Fallon.
Madonna and Rihanna both announced they would play free concerts to raise funds, while newlyweds Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel volunteered to help pass out emergency supplies in New York. Lady Gaga has pledged $1 million of her money to the cause, while Gwyneth Paltrow agreed to be auctioned for lunch date to raise funds.

Interview: Joe Perry on Marriage, His New Memoir and the Future of Aerosmith

Oct 21 2014 4:56pm CDT | Source: Fresh 102.7

Aerosmith‘s Joe Perry is a soft-spoken guy who possesses an undeniably cool and somewhat mysterious vibe. The other side of that coin is that it might be hard to get a word in edgewise when you’re in a band, and songwriting partnership, with Steven Tyler. In Perry’s newly released memoirs, Rocks: My Life in and Out of Aerosmith, co-written with David Ritz, Perry talks about all of the ups and downs of the band, and unsurprisingly, ...

The pledge, the pledge, sign it. Sign the pl ...

Report: Lorde and Kanye West to collaborate on new music

Sep 18 2014 6:58pm CDT | Source: Oh No They Didn't!

Lorde and Kanye West have an age difference of 20 years, hail from entirely different parts of the globe, and are titans in two entirely different genres of music. Yet, as we’ve learned in recent months, the two musicians have a great deal of mutual admiration for one another. Lorde has covered Kanye’s tracks “Flashing Lights” and “Hold My Liquor” in concert, while Kanye told the 17-year-old pop star that ...

America's Got Talent Finale: Who Should Win?

Sep 17 2014 5:45am CDT | Source: The Hollywood Gossip

And then there were two... who we believe should win America's Got Talent this summer. Yes, AcroArmy is an impressive collection of acrobatic prowess; and, sure singer Miguel Dakota has some pipes. We've been blown away at times by magician Mat Franco and we do hope the band Sons of Serendip has a bright future in front of it. But last night's performance finale of America's Got Talent drove home the point, at least in o ...

DawBell: 'The definition of PR is changing by the day'

Sep 11 2014 8:35am CDT | Source: Music Week

Back in 2008, Richard Dawes and Stuart Bell were doing rather nicely in their respective careers. Dawes was head of press at Polydor, riding high on the success of the likes of Take That, Queens Of The Stone Age and James Morrison. Bell was a popular and fast-rising director at The Outside Organisation - to this day, one of the UK media’s most influential PR institutions. (He was also, it’s only proper of us to note, a double Music Week Award winner.) But in 2009, everything changed. ...

All Together Now: The Beatles Are (Back) In Mono

Sep 9 2014 8:45am CDT | Source: WNYC Music

By now, three-fourths of the way through The Beatles' sort-of-official 50th anniversary year, Fab Four fatigue is understandable. The past eight months alone have seen the Emmy-nominated Night That Changed America TV special (based on the 50th anniversary of the group's landmark Ed Sullivan appearances), the reissue of the American album catalog, an ongoing flood of increasingly repetitive books and the indefatigable 72-year-old Pa ...
