Lin was nominated for the best original song for Moana, i.e.“How Far I’ll Go”, and if wins he will be the youngest singer to EGOT(AKA win an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award).

Johnson was called by Oscars for singing he got excited and said that he would be more than happy to perform at Oscars. Johnson also gave his voice to a character called Maui in Moana, and Johnson talked about it in fun way.
He said amusingly that he can answer the current political situation going on in the country through his songs from Moana.

He said that it would be great to sing Moana songs in front of billions of people at Oscars. But, later he said that the Oscars don’t want me to sing from Moana, instead he will sing some other songs with, Auli’I Cravalho, and his twin Lin-Manual Miranda.

Miranda performed with “How Far I’ll Go” before Cravalho who was excited to sing because she has been dreaming of singing at Oscars. Miranda said that she is a voyaging descendant, dependent, impatient, and at the same time heart of nature independent. It seems her eyes are on a big ocean while mind is on island.

When Cravalho sang the dancers created an ocean’s waves effect with blue fabric swirling across the stage.
