Amber Heard and Johnny Depp settle their divorce out of court with $7 million and Amber withdraws case of domestic violence.
Just like that, the big debacle of Amber Heard and Johnny Depp’s wedding has come to an end. The 30 years old actress who was married to the 52 years old actor petitioned for a divorce three months earlier. She immediately followed that petition with another for a restraining order against the actor claiming that he had physically abused her and even produced evidence of bruising which got her the temporary restraining order.
Meanwhile Depp camp opened a full camp including his daughter, his ex-wives and his friends calling Amber a liar and blackmailer. The internet was blowing up with allegations from both sides. The public was treated to a melodramatic version of a Hollywood couple gone wrong. With serious involvement from feminist groups over the domestic abuse case and Johnny’s fans and family convinced with the blackmailing claims, no one could tell how messy the divorce was going to get.
For the past two weeks, Amber and Johnny with their legal teams have been engaged in various depositions for an out of court divorce settlement. Johnny being represented by Laura Wasser and Blair Berk did not attend the depositions. His legal team grilled Amber lately in which they called out her claims of domestic abuse false and said that she was making false statements.
Amber’s representation produced evidence in return in which she recounted times where Johnny had verbally, psychologically or physically abused her. Evidence also included an incidence where Johnny allegedly cut his finger and accused Amber of cheating on him with Billy Bob Thornton. Even then, Amber’s lawyers could not overlook that the LAPD officers that had responded to her domestic abuse calls were adamant that they had seen no evidence of domestic violence.
With that in mind, Johnny’s camp offered Amber a $8 million settlement. Amber asked for an extension on the next deposition for her new lawyer Pierce O’Donnell sprang into action as soon as he got in the chair earlier today. With his first day representing Ms. Heard, he along with Samantha Spector have settled the divorce case with Johnny’s representation. The case has been settled at $7 million, a million less than the original settlement plus the attorney’s fees. Amber has also withdrawn her permanent restraining order with prejudice which means that she will not be filing it again during her lifetime.
Following that Johnny and Amber have made a joint statement in which they have stated that Our relationship was intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love… Neither party has made false accusations for financial gains. There was never an intent of physical or emotional harm. Amber wishes the best for Johnny in the future. Amber will be donating financial proceeds from the divorce to a charity.”
What happened in that courtroom might come to light soon or it may remain a mystery. What caused Amber to settle for so less? After grilling Johnny so hard over the abuse allegations, this statement says otherwise than what it means to say. The settlement comes abruptly than it was expected to and the case will not be heard in a court.
