Former The Voice contestant Christina Grimmie shot after concert in Orlando and declared dead at the hospital.
The world is full of tragedy. Especially when someone young and talented dies an untimely and brutal death. Someone like the contestant Christina Grimmie who competed in the sixth season of The Voice. Her unique singing voice earned her a position on Adam Levine’s team. She finisher in third place of the contest. She has been doing random shows here and there.
She was enjoying life as it went and performing her heart out. Her latest performance was in Plaza Live concert venue in Orlando on Friday. She opened the show for Before You Exit band. The concert ended at about 10 p.m. After that the singer was signing autographs at the Bumby Avenue venue east of downtown about 10:30 p.m.
While she was signing autographs, a man with two guns on him shot Christina multiple time before Christina’s brother tackled the shooter down. While he struggled to restrain the shooter, the shooter shot himself and died on the spot. Police arrived on the scene and found the shooter dead, wounded Christina and a panicking crowd.
The victim was then transported to the hospital. Police confirmed at 3 a.m. Saturday that she died from her injuries, according to E! News. The police are currently keeping the shooters identity concealed. They are sad that something that was supposed to be a fun event turned into such a tragedy. The police are saying that they will also investigate how the man had managed to slip in with two guns.
Christina’s publicist confirmed her death. He requested the fans to respect her family’s privacy in their time of mourning. He urged the people to donate to GoFundMe page. The voice sent out a special tweet commemorating the young star.
