Multiple Platforms Pay Tribute to Prince by Showcasing Purple Rain.
Purple Rain is going to be aired on multiple platforms to pay tribute to the latest music superstar Prince.
It was a sad, sad day for music lovers around the world to learn about the sudden death of the music icon Prince. He was found in his Minnesota estate. While the cause of his death is still being investigated, many believe that Prince went way before his time and the impact that he made on music was so phenomenal that his death has left a gaping hole in the music circuit.
His death was commemorated by multiple musicians, artists, actors and other celebrities and fans. MTV remembered the star by turning the logo to purple for the whole day and as soon as the news of his death reached ears, the network delayed their usual broadcast to air everything Prince.
Including multiple broadcasting of Purple Rain, Prince music videos and interviews and his multiple roles. The Prince transmission went on for a whole 24 hours before returning to original programming schedule. VH1 followed a similar schedule to pay tribute to the star and included multiple broadcasts of Prince’s Purple Rain and music videos.
For all the people that might have missed the movie on the network broadcasts, there is some good news coming from the largest theater franchise in the country, AMC who are collaborating with Warner Bros. to screen “Purple Rain” in 87 AMC locations this Saturday, April 22, through Thursday, April 27, according to E! News.
Carmike Theaters will also screen the cult favorite in 80 theaters. Purple Rain starred Prince in the lead role and it was first released in 1984. The plot of the movie revolved around Prince’s life before he became the music icon.
The movie earned Prince an Academy Award for Best Original Song Score. The accompanying album also produced two no. 1 singles –“When Doves Cry” and “Let’s Go Crazy–and went platinum 13 times over.
