Adele is all ready to sweep the Brit Awards 2016. Besides her album being the best one of the year, she will compete for the best British female. She will be showing what she has in the way of talent by rendering songs at the awards show.
Others who will stand shoulder to shoulder with her and give it their best shot include: Rihanna, Justin Bieber, The Weeknd and Little Mix. All these singing stars will have their mothers watching from among the crowds gathered to witness the Brit Awards.
As for Ant and Dec, they have warned in a jocular manner that capes are banned. This is of course in reference to Madonna’s fall in her performance the previous year. Madonna however just picked herself up and restarted the show.
She had the guts not to show any signs of embarrassment over the huge blunder. According to BBC, Adele’s album “25” has sold 2.73 million copies in her home turf (that would be the United Kingdom).
Coldplay is another group of musicians that may win top spot via grabbing an award for the best album or best group category, according to Irish Independent.
A single winning slot could lend Coldplay a grand total of nine awards. That is a record. It would make them the event’s most successful band and in a league of their own. Among the other stars and starlets with the most awards are: Adele, James Bay, Years & Years, Calvin Harris and Jess Glynne.
Among the highlights of the show will be a tribute to David Bowie, who died last month. He was genius at its best. The tribute will be in a subdued manner thereby honoring the fact that he is no more among us.
While Lady Gaga gave a sonorous tribute to David Bowie at the Grammy Awards about seven days ago, the Brit Awards heads have decided to keep the entire tribute in a low key.
Instead of the fireworks and noise, the whole tenor will be respectful and reserved. The diversity issue has plagued the Brit Awards in recent years as well. It seems that representation is felt to be disproportionate to the ethnic diversity of society.
All segments of society whether they are black or white ought to be acknowledged by the awards’ execs. It naturally goes without saying, yet the gap remains between fair-skinned individuals and colored minorities.
