Liam Neeson is glad he wasn't a famous teen

Feb 22 2014, 2:26pm CST | by

Liam Neeson is glad he wasn't famous as a teenager.

The 'Non-Stop' star, who has sons, Michael, 19, and Daniel, 18, with his late wife Natasha Richardson, believes he has managed to avoid battles with drugs and alcohol, unlike many of his peers, because he only found fame when he was in his thirties.

The 61-year-old star told the UK's Daily Telegraph newspaper: "I didn't come out to Hollywood until I was 35. I wasn't 16 or 17 and I was never on the booze or into the drug culture. I had a little bit of maturity."

Liam, who grew up in Ballymena in County Antrim, still feels a strong connection to Ireland despite moving to New York City in 1987 and becoming an American citizen.

He said: "There's an old expression that says you can take the Irishman out of the bog but you can't take the bog out of the Irishman. I'm very much from that school and although America's my home and where I'm raising my kids, Ireland is still a spiritual home."

The 'Taken 2' star has recently carved out a career as an action hero but admits he would like to return to his theatre roots soon.

He said: "I love being where I am at the moment and I feel very blessed. But I'm very proud of my theatre roots because I think they gave me a physical discipline and the training for repetition. Some directors like to do numerous takes, which I am not a fan of, but if it comes to it I can do it because that's what you do in the theatre, eight times a week. And I miss it. I would like to get back on stage again.

"But it's nice to beat up people in movies, mind you. It's satisfying."

According to the outlet, Lohan “thinks she’s found her Prince Charming” in Harry, and with the actress currently in London for her “Speed-the-Plow” performances, she’s allegedly making a run at him. “As preposterous as it sounds, she thinks she can make her dream of bec ...

Oct 13 2014 2:23pm CDT | Source: Gossip Cop

(Warner Bros.) Tyler Posey strips down and gets dunked to raise money for breast cancer research on Monday’s “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” — and Pink is the one who dunks him! The “Teen Wolf” hunk showed off his body (and his tattoos) as he walked into the audience to get to the dunk tank, where luminaries like Liam Neeson and Jerry O’Connell have sat before him. Pink wasn’t quite able to hit the target with her first few tries, so she broke the rules to get the job ...

Kim Jong Un May Be Un Living

Oct 8 2014 8:33am CDT | Source: WWTDD.com

The gloriously retarded Great Leader Kim Jong Un has not been seen publicly in over a month. Speculation in North Korea is running rampant that he may be ill. Also that someone invented a flying machine. Both notions have been discredited by the state run newspaper. Un has had most of his enemies within North Korea killed by hungry dogs, although it’s possible he assassinated people who merely looked a lot like his enemies. North Korean officials issued a stateme ...

The Equalizer, starring Denzel Washington in the kind of role (the "Sad Jedi," as our own Chris Klimek put it in his terrific review) ithat Liam Neeson has been specializing in for several years, hit theaters last weekend. It made a lot of money, and that got us thinking: How does this fit into the larger arc of Denzel Washington? For that discussion, we brought in our pal Tanya Ballard Brown, who has spoken on the show befor ...

Movie Review: ‘The Equalizer’

Sep 26 2014 2:39am CDT | Source: CBS Philly

By Bill Wine KYW Newsradio 1060 PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — It’s brutal, it’s grisly, and it’s kind of ridiculous. But y’know what? Denzel Washington makes it work. (2½ stars out of 4) All things being equalized, The Equalizer could have used a more grounded technical advisor. But the leading man needs no help. The Equalizer is a restored-justice thriller based on the action-adventure television series with the same title that ran from 1985 to 1989, starring Ed ...
