Bruno Mars plans for freezing Super Bowl

Jan 30 2014, 8:24pm CST | by

Bruno Mars is planning to get "heaters on everything" when he performs at the Super Bowl this weekend.

The 'Grenade' singer will sing at the Half Time Show during the Denver Broncos vs Seattle Seahawks game on Sunday (02.02.14) and is already preparing for performing in the chilly New Jersey outdoors.

Asked if there will be any surprises in his set, he replied: "It's cold, that's the surprise. It's like the microphone turns into a Popsicle. We're getting some heaters on everything."

One thing sure to warm up Bruno's set will be a guest appearance by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who he picked to appear because they have "soul".

He said: "They're a soulful band, not just musically, but as people."

Bruno - who is half Puerto Rican and grew up in Hawaii - also gave his advice to budding young stars hoping to find themselves in a similar position to him in years to come.

He said: "Don't let anyone ever try to stop you. That's what I had to face when I moved up to California. Nobody knew what nationality I was and that was such a big deal I guess in the music industry, that we don't know who to sell these records [to] or what radio stations [should play them], and a lot of people were trying to tell me, 'You're too unorthodox'. If you got your head on straight and focus on what you do and practice your craft, then you have nowhere else to go but up."

Aug 30 2014 5:48am CDT | Source: WNYC Music

It's not always easy to connect the dots between the food we consume and the people who grow it, or the impact of growing and processing that food on the health of our planet. But a campaign called Behind the Brands, led by Oxfam International, an advocacy organization dedicated to fighting poverty, is trying to make the inner workings of the 10 biggest food companies in the world more visible. They include General Mills, Associa ...

Jared Leto Knows How to Vacation Like a Rock Star

Jul 29 2014 2:25pm CDT | Source: Pop Sugar

Jared Leto put his beach body on display on Monday when played around on a yacht off the coast of Capri, Italy. The Oscar winner, Internet meme, and Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman rode around on a water ski (smartly making sure to wear a helmet) and chatted with his friends on a boat while going shirtless. Jared was in town to wrap up the European leg of his tour with his band in nearby Corsica. The group played its final show last week, and it looks as if Jared took advantage of th ...

John Carter is so bad

Mar 9 2012 1:23pm CST | Source: FourFour

It is unconscionable in 2012 for a movie to portray a white dude who infiltrates a non-white native culture and then turns out to be better at being a native than even the natives are. We've seen it for years, we saw it in Avatar and now we see this straight up white supremacy in John Carter. The title character, a former captain of the Confederate fucking Army, is ported over to Mars, where he encounters a race of four-armed green monster warriors. Because of his bone density (bone de ...
