Bruno Mars and Miley Cyrus make Forbes' 30 under 30 list

Jan 7 2014, 5:34am CST | by

Bruno Mars, Miley Cyrus and One Direction are among Forbes magazine's 30 Under 30 musicians this year.

The financial bible has issued its annual list of influential young people in a variety of categories, and the trio are among those who gained places on the music list.

Bruno, 28, was singled out by the publication as its featured artist, and went on to state he had earned his place for a variety of reasons including 18 Grammy nominations and his forthcoming Super Bowl half-time show, which will make him the first musician under 30 to headline the prestigious event.

The music category - which is chosen by an expert judging panel of Live Nation chief Michael Rapino, manager and former Def Jam president Kevin Liles, and singer/songwriter John Oates - comprises 20 artists and non-performers from across the world, and includes American pop stars Miley, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga, Bajan beauty Rihanna, 17-year-old New Zealand songstress Lorde, Canadians Drake and Justin Bieber, and DJs Avicii, Calvin Harris and Zedd, who hail from Sweden, Scotland and Russia respectively.

Other famous names on the music list include Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Janelle Monae and Wiz Khalifa.

Meanwhile, the Hollywood list featured starlets including Olivia Wilde, Anna Kendrick and Jennifer Lawrence, writer-and-actresses Rebel Wilson and Lena Dunham, '21 Jump Street' star Dave Franco - whose brother is 'Spring Breakers' actor James Franco - 'Fashion Police' host Kelly Osbourne, 'Orange is the New Black' star Taylor Schilling and 10-year-old actress Quvenzhané Wallis.

Jared Leto put his beach body on display on Monday when played around on a yacht off the coast of Capri, Italy. The Oscar winner, Internet meme, and Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman rode around on a water ski (smartly making sure to wear a helmet) and chatted with his friends on a boat while going shirtless. Jared was in town to wrap up the European leg of his tour with his band in nearby Corsica. The group played its final show last week, and it looks ...

John Carter is so bad

Mar 9 2012 1:23pm CST | Source: FourFour

It is unconscionable in 2012 for a movie to portray a white dude who infiltrates a non-white native culture and then turns out to be better at being a native than even the natives are. We've seen it for years, we saw it in Avatar and now we see this straight up white supremacy in John Carter. The title character, a former captain of the Confederate fucking Army, is ported over to Mars, where he encounters a race of four ...
