Julie Walters: I want to work with Woody Allen

Dec 9 2013, 3:38am CST | by Bang Showbiz

Julie Walters wants to work with Woody Allen.

The 63-year-old actress was presented with the Outstanding Contribution to Film prize at the British Independent Film Awards (BIFAs) on Sunday night (12.08.13), an honor she described as very "special".

Although Julie has achieved so much during her career - which has spanned over 40 years - she admits there are still directors she would like to work with and Woody is top of her list.

Speaking at the ceremony held at Old Billingsgate Market in London, she told BANG Showbiz: "People like Woody Allen, Martin Scorsese, there are loads of people.

"But usually I like to see a script, I don't think I must work with someone or I must play a certain part. Then I think, 'Who's going to be directing it?', 'Who's in it, are they gits.'"

Julie also praised the event for shining a "light on British film" and for being a "platform for new talent".

The star also admitted she "felt her age" playing a grandmother in the upcoming 'Harry Hill Movie'.

She quipped: "It was heaven, just mad fun, he's another lovely bloke, unassuming and clever, we were like a double-act. I played his nan, which would make me 103 in real life.

"It was just brilliant, but very hard work though, that made me feel my age, in every day, long hours, but lovely."

Other winners at the BIFAs included James McAvoy, who took home the Best Actor prize for his performance in 'Filth', while Lindsay Duncan picked up the Best Actress gong for 'Le Week-End'.

British actor on If I Stay and working with Woody Allen...“It’s probably just because I wear tight jeans,” laughs 23-year-old actor Jamie Blackley when asked why the world of rock ‘n’ roll has become such a recurrent theme in his evolving body of work. He could hardly be immodest enough to go into detail. With dark, inquisitive eyes framed by thick slugs of ’brows, he has the ability to switch his look at will between teen heartthrob and wiry rock star, while his performances exude an almo ...

Aug 13 2014 3:17pm CDT | Source: WNYC Music

You might have heard a lot about "yellowface" in recent months. It's the word widely used to refer to someone donning make-up or clothing to present the appearance of looking Asian. In the past month, Seattle's Gilbert and Sullivan Society came under fire for its production of The Mikado. The op ...
