Katy Perry wins Best Female at MTV EMAs

Nov 10 2013, 5:22pm CST | by Bang Showbiz

Katy Perry has been crowned Best Female at the MTV Europe Music Awards.

The 'Roar' hitmaker beat her pop rivals Lady GaGa, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift to the prestigious prize at the 20th annual ceremony in Amsterdam, the Netherlands this evening (11.10.13).

The visibly shocked star told the audience as she accepted her award: "Thank you, this is so cool. I was just sitting backstage with the artists drinking some champagne, thinking I'm not gonna win, I'm not gonna win ... And I won!"

She later told BANG Showbiz: "I wasn't expecting to win actually, I was just sitting down having a glass of champagne, thinking I was being set up, and then they called my name and I was like 'What?' It was awesome."

Eminem will no doubt be the biggest winner of the night, with the star due to receive both the Global Icon Award for his achievements in music, as well as the Best Hip-Hop prize thanks to his comeback album 'The Marshall Mathers LP 2'.

It comes as no surprise teen heartthrobs One Direction will be taking home the Best UK & Ireland Act gong, while Bruno Mars has been awarded Best Song for 'Locked Out Of Heaven'.

The EMAs are also celebrating alternative rock music tonight, with Tokio Hotel winning Biggest Fans, Jared Leto's band 30 Seconds To Mars being crowned Best Alternative, and Green Day scooping Best Rock.

The 2013 MTV EMAs full list of winners is as follows:

First Listen: Mapei, 'Hey Hey'

Sep 14 2014 10:03pm CDT | Source: WNYC Music

Pop music is constructed with many of the same base directives as candy, which is why the two are so often compared. Above all, both must feel good to consume, and both must make us want more. Pop meets basic human desires, and thus often gets dismissed as basic itself. It's true that the consumption of good pop is, by design, easy. But its creation is as exacting an art as tempering chocolate without scorchin ...

Jennifer Lawrence will co-chair the Met Gala: good pick or hot mess?

Sep 14 2014 7:05am CDT | Source: Celebitchy.com

These are the new Miss Dior ads starring Jennifer Lawrence. They’re okay, but Dior always photoshops too much. Their ads often suck JLaw’s fresh originality right out of her. She looks like a mannequin. A pretty mannequin shilling purses. Something more interesting: A bit of JLaw news beyond dating rumors. Jennifer has been announced as a co-chair of next year’s Met Gala. It seems like an unexpected choice, but I suspect the decision is tied to her Dior contract. Th ...

Frat's Taylor Swift Lip Dub Is Better Than Taylor Swift Herself

Sep 13 2014 8:21am CDT | Source: Oh No They Didn't!

Shrug off whatever Taylor Swift was doing in her embarrassing and problematic video for "Shake It Off" and make Delta Sigma Phi - Beta Mu's one-take wonder the official version you groove to. Pros include: No homophobia (good work, Frat!), no tweaking, and hella cute dudes. The guys who made this video at Transylvania University (which is in Kentucky and not located in Dracula's castle — although, how cool would that be?) are pretty impressive. Not onl ...

Chris Martin and John Mayer: Fighting Over Jennifer Lawrence?!

Sep 12 2014 9:30am CDT | Source: The Hollywood Gossip

As you've probably heard, Jennifer Lawrence nude photos were all over the Internet for a little while, until she basically went Katniss on the hacker-pervs (legally speaking) and had every last J-Law nip scrubbed from the Web. After all that, she probably thought she was through with drama for a bit. Lawrence is dating Chris Martin; she's still a few weeks away from promoting Mockingjay Part 1...She probably figured the coast was clear to ...
