Britain's Prince William is to leave the armed forces.
The 31-year-old royal - the second in line to the British throne -has announced his intention to quit the military after seven years of service in order to focus on his royal duties alongside his wife, the Duchess of Cambridge.
"The duke will continue to work with his charities on issues relating to children and young people, veterans and serving members of the armed forces."
According to the BBC, the next year will be a "transitional" phase in William's life as he focuses on becoming a "full-time royal" with an increased number of official engagements both in the UK and overseas.
He will be working closely with Duchess Catherine - formerly known as Kate Middleton - and his younger brother Prince Harry in the coming months and is currently weighing up options for public service - with a further announcement to follow.
In a speech at the Anglesey Show in August, the royal said: "I know that I speak for Catherine when I say that I have never in my life known somewhere as beautiful and as welcoming as Anglesey.
"I know that both of us will miss it terribly when my search and rescue tour of duty comes to an end next month and we have to move elsewhere.
"From the bottom of my heart, thank you for making my wife and me so welcome when we arrived here."
