Bogota, July 27 (IANS/EFE) Spanish actress Maribel Verdu said here that she would be interested in filming in Colombia and praised the selections made for a retrospective of her work to be screened in the Andean nation.

Bogota, July 27 (IANS/EFE) Spanish actress Maribel Verdu said here that she would be interested in filming in Colombia and praised the selections made for a retrospective of her work to be screened in the Andean nation.

"I miss Colombia and I'd love to (film there) because the country fascinates me," Verdu, who has appeared in movies shot in Mexico, Chile and Argentina, said.

Verdu was the star of Spanish director Pablo Berger's highly acclaimed 2012 film "Blancanieves" (Snow White), which has been chosen to kick off the second edition of the Muestra de Cine Español (Exhibition of Spanish Cinema), an event whose sections include a retrospective of the Madrid-born actress's work.

"They put together a selection of films here that really surprised me," Verdu told EFE, adding that her "favourite movies" were included.

"Blancanieves" was the big winner of the 2012 Goya Awards, Spain's equivalent of the Oscars, taking home 10 statuettes.

Verdu won her second Goya for best leading actress for her role in the film, adding to the one she won for her performance in the 2007 picture "Siete mesas de billar frances" (Seven Billiard Tables), which was directed by Spain's Gracia Querejeta and also is to be screened during the Colombian festival.

A retrospective of late Spanish-born Mexican director Luis Buñuel's work, including classics such as "Un Chien Andalou" (1929), "La ilusion viaja en tranvia" (1953) and "El angel exterminador" (1962), also will be screened during the festival, which will run from Friday until Aug 9 in five Colombian cities: Bogota, Cartagena, Barranquilla, Cali and Medellin.
