Nicolas Cage always dreamt of being inside TV

Jul 22 2013, 12:34pm CDT | by Bang Showbiz

Nicolas Cage dreamt of getting "inside" his television as a child.

The 49-year-old actor would spend hours watching TV when he was a boy and he always wondered how he would be able to get on to the screen when he grew up.

Cage insists becoming an actor was his only ambition and he can't remember ever wanting to do anything else.

Speaking about his childhood, he said: "I would watch television religiously; that's all I did. That is what I enjoyed. At that age I was trying to figure out how I go from the living room carpet - because I would sit on the carpet and watch the TV, it was my magic carpet - and get inside the television and talk. Now I'm doing it, so it worked. That was always the plan - to try get in the TV and become an actor."

Cage - who is currently starring in Scott Walker's 'The Frozen Ground' alongside John Cusack and Vanessa Hudgens - admits he enjoys working as much as he can.

However, he took the whole of 2012 off and he thinks the extended break was good for both his personal life and his career.

During an appearance on UK TV show 'This Morning', he said: "Last year I took the entire year off. I did one movie in the beginning and I took the rest of the year off ... Now I have to find a script I connect to, believe in, and can portray in an honest way. That's increasingly important."

You Wouldn't Want To Be Left Behind With These Idiots

Oct 3 2014 11:00am CDT | Source: Gawker

The genius of the Left Behind series is the way it combines Roland Emmerich-style disasters with its Biblical lectures. And the new movie version even stars Nicolas Cage. So it's too bad this new movie fails on the "disaster epic" front, because it's too busy torturing its in ...

A Man, A Plane, A Rapture: 'Left Behind'

Oct 2 2014 4:03pm CDT | Source: WNYC Music

The world is ending, billions will die, and hell is, literally, coming to Long Island. But the rebooted Left Behind doesn't want to alarm you. Fourteen years ago, as a new millennium's arrival failed to extinguish our doggedly persistent universe, the first Left Behind movie introduced a slithery Antichrist — a U.N. official, of course — and the prospect of global war centered on Jerusalem. Just last month, The Remaining treated the fundamentalist-Christian notion of ...

Celebs' Weird Japanese Ads They Probably Would Rather You Not Know About!

Sep 30 2014 4:00pm CDT | Source: Perez Hilton

Part of being a celebrity is being in ad campaigns, because you get lots of extra dough for it! But occasionally, some of the commercials might have been a regrettable choice when they look back on them. For example, every single time Nicolas Cage went NUTZ for Fever Pachinko he basically gave US a fever! And while he spoke English in all of his ads, others like Harrison Ford actually learned the language! Or at least the lines that he had to say! Take a lo ...
