Helen Mirren sympathizes with Duchess Catherine

Jul 22 2013, 12:34pm CDT | by Bang Showbiz

Dame Helen Mirren thinks Duchess Catherine must be "so uncomfortable" with everyone knowing she is in labor.

The 67-year-old actress sympathizes with the duchess - who was taken to the Lindo Wing at St. Mary's Hospital in Paddington, London, this morning (07.22.13) after experiencing the early stages of childbirth - and insists it must be strange for her to know the whole world is awaiting news of her and Prince Williams' first child.

Speaking at the 'RED 2' press conference, which took place earlier today onboard the Symphony riverboat on the River Thames, Helen told BANG Showbiz: "It's weird, isn't it that everyone knows you're in labor. That must be so uncomfortable."

Helen - who was joined by her co-stars Bruce Willis and Mary Louise Parker on the vessel - thinks is would be "very interesting" if William and Catherine named their little one Diana after the prince's late mother Princess Diana.

Speaking about the possibility of the royal baby, who will be third in line to the throne, being called Diana - who passed away in August 1997 - she added: "I wonder if they'll go there? That would be interesting. That would be very interesting."

What's more, the acting legend - who won an Oscar for her portrayal of Britain's Queen Elizabeth in 2006 biopic 'The Queen' - would prefer it if the couple had a daughter, and admits it would be great if they chose an "ancient" moniker for their little one.

She added: "It would be nice to have one of those ancient, Anglo-Saxon names.

"If the baby is a girl we know her second name will be Elizabeth without a doubt.

"I was going to go with a boy. But another queen, that's good. I think that's great! We need more queens now."

Jacqueline Bisset has some thoughts: ‘I have never fully embraced feminism’

Sep 24 2014 9:00am CDT | Source: Celebitchy.com

I’ve always sort of liked Jacqueline Bisset, but after reading this interview with her… I think it’s comparable to how I feel about Helen Mirren. Helen Mirren is fabulous, strong, beautiful… and she says wacky and sometimes offensive things in interviews. Maybe it’s that women of a certain age have difficulty explaining their complicated views on sexuality and equality and such? Perhaps. Anyway, Bisset is 70 years old and she has s ...

NYT apologizes for their ‘astonishingly tone-deaf’ Shonda Rhimes article

Sep 23 2014 6:45am CDT | Source: Celebitchy.com

After more than 72 hours of drama, the New York Times has finally offered an apology for Alessandra Stanley’s TV criticism/think-piece, which was published online last Friday. Stanley made several huge technical errors, which was bad enough, but the whole piece was patronizing, grossly offensive and flat-out racist. I covered the piece on Sunday, and wrote a follow-up yesterday. You can read the NYT’s full ...

Taylor Swift is People Mag’s Best Dressed of 2014: good call or bad pick?

Sep 17 2014 9:40am CDT | Source: Celebitchy.com

People Magazine has released their Best Dressed List for 2014, and OMG is it bland. Really, ridiculously bland. Taylor Swift is this year’s best dressed lady. YES, that Taylor Swift. To be honest, I think Swifty’s style has greatly improved over the past year, especially since she moved to New York and she’s been doing the millennial Sex & the City thing, with lots of leggy photo-ops in short skirts and good shoes. She’s moved away from J ...
