Los Angeles, July 19 (IANS/EFE) Colombian actress Sofia Vergara Thursday received her fourth consecutive nomination for an Emmy Award as supporting actress in the comedy "Modern Family".

Vergara will compete for the award with her castmate - and 2012 winner - Julie Bowen, Mayim Bialik ("The Big Bang Theory"), Jane Lynch ("Glee"), Merritt Wever ("Nurse Jackie"), Jane Krakowski ("30 Rock") and Anna Chlumsky ("Veep").

"Modern Family" will go up against "30 Rock", "The Big Bang Theory", "Girls", "Louie" and "Veep" for best comedy.

In the category of best drama, 2012 winner "Homeland" will vie with "Mad Men", "Breaking Bad", "Game of Thrones", "Downton Abbey" and Netflix production "House of Cards", which became the first Internet series to be nominated for an Emmy in the category.

Elizabeth Moss received two nominations for best lead actress in a drama: one for the miniseries "Top of the Lake" and the other for her character of Peggy Olson on "Mad Men".

Moss will compete against Claire Danes (Homeland), last year's winner, as well as Vera Farmiga ("Bates Hotel"), Michelle Dockery ("Downton Abbey"), Robin Wright ("House of Cards"), Connie Britton ("Nashville") and Kerry Washington ("Scandal").

Damian Lewis ("Homeland") was nominated again for best actor in a drama, a prize he received in 2012, and he will be competing against Bryan Cranston ("Breaking Bad"), Hugh Bonneville ("Downton Abbey"), Kevin Spacey ("House of Cards"), Jon Hamm ("Mad Men") and Jeff Daniels ("The Newsroom").

In comedy, the award for best actor will go to either Jim Parsons ("The Big Bang Theory"), Jason Bateman ("Arrested Development"), Matt LeBlanc ("Episodes"), Don Cheadle ("House of Lies"), Louis C.K. ("Louie") or Alec Baldwin ("30 Rock").

The best actress in a comedy award will be up for grabs among Laura Dern ("Enlightened"), Lena Dunham ("Girls"), Edie Falco ("Nurse Jackie"), Amy Poehler ("Parks and Recreation"), Tina Fey ("30 Rock) and Julia Louis-Dreyfus ("Veep").

The 65th Emmy Awards ceremony will take place Sep 22 in Los Angeles.
