Sydney, June 19 (IANS/EFE) Australian fashionistas are mourning the closing of the Lisa Ho fashion house, which has dressed stars such as Olivia Newton-John, Jennifer Lopez and Elle Macpherson over the past three decades.

Lisa Ho Group, which has total debts of some A$10.47 million ($9.91 million), handed over control of its operations to receivers earlier this month as part of its bankruptcy filing.

The Lisa Ho boutiques in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane will be closed at the end of this month after no buyers stepped up to make an offer for the company, executives said Tuesday.

Lisa Ho, an Australian of Chinese and African descent, created a clothing line in 1980 that bore her name and helped her carve out a place in the Australian fashion industry.

Ho gained international fame in 2000, when Olivia Newton-John wore one of her designs during the Sydney Summer Olympics opening ceremony.

The designer has also dressed singer Jennifer Lopez, who wore her creations during a promotional tour of Australia, as well as actresses Nicole Kidman and Toni Collette, model Elle Macpherson and other celebrities, including Jessica Alba and Kim Kardashian.

Lisa Ho is just the latest fashion house to disappear in Australia, where the Bettina Liano, Sass & Bide, Herringbone and Charlie Brown design firms also left the scene due to financial problems.
