Daniel Day Lewis wins Best Actor Oscar

Daniel Day Lewis won Best Actor at the Academy Awards on Sunday (02.24.13).

The 55-year-old actor - who has been nominated five times - took home the third Oscar of his career for his performance as President Abraham Lincoln in the Steven Spielberg directed movie, 'Lincoln'.

The win makes Daniel the first person ever to win the Best Actor award three times in the history of the Academy, having previously triumphed for 1989's 'My Left Foot' and 2007's 'There Will Be Blood'.

His other nominations were for 'Gangs of New York' and 'In the Name of the Father.'

The actor - who was accompanied to the ceremony at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles by his wife Rebecca Miller - also picked up a Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild award for the role earlier this year.

He beat Bradley Cooper nominated for his role in 'Silver Linings Playbook', Hugh Jackman in 'Les Miserables', Joaquin Phoenix in 'The Master' and Denzil Washington in 'Flight' to take home the top prize.

While Daniel is known for his extreme mental and physical preparation for each film he stars in , the 'Lincoln' star previously insisted the reason he focuses so much on every role is because he finds embodying a new character a "huge pleasure of discovery".

He explained: "I didn't go looking for that [mystery tag], it was not my intention to create a specious air of mystery about what I do. But what's misrepresented is the fact I take a long time [preparing for each character] because I enjoy the work and it pleases me to take time over it.

"It's pure joy. It's a huge pleasure in discovery. It's a game, and I've never thought to obscure that fact. But that image persists of some sort of lonely, strange figure going about an unholy business."

James McAvoy: 'Actors Always Wanted To Play Gay Roles'

Sep 19 2014 3:58pm CDT | Source: Oh No They Didn't!

Actors have always wanted to play gay guys, they've just been too scared (until recently) to come out and say it, according to "X-Men" star James McAvoy."I think actors have always wanted to play those parts," the 35-year-old Scotsman said in a recent interview with Out Magazine. "They're just not so bothered now about what those roles might say about their personal lives. It's a nice wee sign of the times."McAvoy, w ...

James McAvoy covers Out Mag, is ambivalent about Scottish independence

James McAvoy covers the new issue of Out Magazine to promote The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby. This is the first interview/media piece where someone actually describes what happens in the film, so SPOILERZ if you want to know a major plotpoint: she gets pregnant and they lose the baby and they’re both left reeling. As for the rest of the interview… it’s really good. McAvoy is usually a good interview (as in, he likes to talk), ...

John Travolta: Daniel Day-Lewis wanted to play Vincent Vega in ‘Pulp Fiction’

Sep 15 2014 6:45am CDT | Source: Celebitchy.com

John Travolta was in Toronto a few days ago to promote his newest film, The Forger. He got to work with Christopher Plummer, which is always nice. These are photos from the TIFF premiere – note the special Toronto Wiglet™. Travolta has changed up his facial hair too, although if you told me his goatee was a face merkin, I would totally believe you. The last time Travolta was out in public, he was “rocking” that completely gross little soul patc ...
