Los Angeles, Feb 25 — Ben Affleck's "Argo" walked away with the best writing - adapted screenplay award at the prestigious 85th Annual Academy Awards announced Sunday night. Filmmaker Quentin Tarantino won the best original screenplay for "Django Unchained".

"Argo" is based on a 2007 article about the "Canadian Caper", in which Tony Mendez, a CIA operative, led the rescue of six US diplomats from Tehran, Iran, during the 1979 Iran hostage crisis.

Writer Chris Terrio beat Lucy Alibar and Benh Zeitlin ("Beasts of the Southern Wild"), David Magee ("Life of Pi"), Tony Kushner("Lincoln") and David O. Russell ("Silver Linings Playbook").

Tarantino's "Django Unchained", which won the original screenplay Oscar, is a story about German bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz, who buys a slave named Django and promises him freedom once he has helped Schultz track down the criminals he is seeking.

Others nominated in the category were Michael Haneke ("Amour"), John Gatins ("Flight"), Wes Anderson and Roman Coppola ("Moonrise Kingdom") and Mark Boal ("Zero Dark Thirty").

Movie Review: ‘Life of Crime’

Aug 29 2014 2:47am CDT | Source: CBS Philly

By Bill Wine KYW Newsradio 1060 PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Jennifer Aniston sure could use some friends in Life of Crime. Alas, no one is there for her.   (2 stars out of 4)   But as has often been the case since the former small-screen favorite, always easily sympathetic, became a big-screen lead, she transcends the material. Set in the late ’70s, Life of Crime is a crime comedy based on The Switch (1978), by the late crime novelist Elmore Leonard. Quite a few of Leonard’s crime nove ...

Aug 22 2014 9:40am CDT | Source: Celebitchy.com

I’ve resigned myself to the thought of Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Martin in a relationship. I’m not thrilled about it. It seems like a temporary thing. Jennifer is probably enamored at the thought of dating a global phenom who’s as famous as she is. People fawn all over her all the time, and now she’s fawning over someone else. I get the impression that Nick Hoult was always fading into the background of their relationship. JLaw must have loved him, but her pr ...
