The funnyman is set to host the 85th Academy Awards at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood on Sunday (02.24.13) and revealed he had "no reservations" about taking on the high profile job until after he accepted it.
The 'Family Guy' creator told USA Today: "Oddly, I had no reservations. Subsequently, the thought crossed my mind maybe I am in over my head. But we've all worked so hard on this program. If this thing tanks, it won't be for lack of preparation. I will have put five months of work into this."
The 39-year-old star, who is dating 'Game of Thrones' actress Emilia Clarke, 24, is planning to sing and dance during the ceremony, which will also include performances by Adele, Barbara Streisand and Norah Jones.
Seth said: "He said, 'Don't cut them deeply right off the bat. Because you are not part of the club.' Which is true. I'm not Robert De Niro getting up there. I've made one movie ('Ted'). It's all about balance. In one form or another, that's what this comes down to."
Seth previously said he is aiming to bring more "edge" to this year's event but predicts he won't be asked back.
He said: "The whole point of their bringing me on was to give it a little bit more of an edge. You have a room full of people who are at the top of their game - they're successful, they're being honored, they're attractive - and yet this is also the group with the thinnest skin on the planet. So it's a tough group.
"This will probably be the only time I'm asked to do this. It feels like a one-off. But I'm still thrilled to be doing it. It's going to be a lot of fun. I will very much enjoy having done it once it's over."
