The 20th annual star-studded ceremony will be broadcast live from the Dutch capital's innovative Ziggo Dome on Sunday, November 10.
Bruce Gillmer, Executive Vice President of Talent and Music Programming/Events, Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) confirmed the location and date today (01.26.13), saying: "We're very excited to partner with the city of Amsterdam, a true world class music city and top destination for artists.
"Each year the MTV EMA celebrates the biggest names in music from every corner of the globe and showcases unbelievable performances from today's most exciting acts. We're confident that Amsterdam, and the cutting-edge Ziggo Dome, with its state of the art facilities, will be the perfect setting for what will be a very memorable and spectacular '2013 MTV EMA.'"
German supermodel Heidi Klum hosted last year's EMAs in Frankfurt, during which she made six costume changes.
A string of high profile stars are expected to perform at the event, which attracts the biggest names in music every year.
Last year saw Taylor Swift, Rita Ora and Carly Rae Jepsen take to the stage to perform, while Taylor, Justin Bieber and One Direction were the big winners on the night.
The 22-year-old 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together' singer and the 18-year-old Canadian popstar scooped three awards each.
This year's host and list of performers are expected to be announced in September.
