Arnold Schwarzenegger likes his accent being mocked

Jan 24 2013, 5:21am CST | by

Arnold Schwarzenegger doesn't mind being made fun of.

The Austrian star loves it when people poke fun at his strong accent and infamous 'Terminator' movie line "I'll be back" because it means society is now accepting of his culture and has moved past the horrors of World War Two.

He laughed: "It's great. When I see, for instance, on these late-night talk shows, the hosts making a joke about me it proves that perception has changed. It is no longer frightening. In the 70s, people were frightened of the German accent. People said it gave them goosebumps.

"They were like, 'This guy scares the s**t out of me', and, 'Oh f**k, are they back?' But all this chat show shtick and people imitating me came about so more people could hear it and it became part of America."

The muscular 65-year-old action hero also acknowledged his fitness level has changed since his heyday, as filming for his new film 'The Last Stand' after a 10-year absence from the big screen proved.

Arnold told Shortlist magazine: "I've never been out of shape. But it is a little different when you're 65 to when you're 35, there no two ways about it. When I was 35, and when I did the 'Conan' movies, I was never really sore the next day. Now I'm like, oh man, I've gotta take some Advil.

"I know I'm not the young action guy any more. I know that when I get up its like this [clutches his back]."

'Expendable' Indeed: The Best Of A Bad Bunch Is Still Pretty Bad

Aug 15 2014 6:00am CDT | Source: WNYC Music

Just be glad it isn't The Expendables 3D. The third installment in Sylvester Stallone's jobs program for expired action heroes is easily the best of the bunch, which is not to say it's any good. The Expendables series -- basically what we'd get if Marvel released Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America and then sat on The Avengers for 25 years or so — aims low and somehow still manages to underwhelm. Its latest iteration is best appreciated a ...

Kellan Lutz thinks Angelina Jolie should star in the girl version of ‘The Expendables’

Aug 6 2014 6:05am CDT | Source: Celebitchy.com

Over the past few days, I’ve lingered over photos of The Expendables 3 cast for a few seconds here and there, trying to figure out if any of them were interesting enough to write about. I was only really paying attention to Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham though. Before today, I didn’t realize that the film also stars Wesley Snipes (!!!), Antonio Banderas, Harrison Ford (!!) and other assorted old guys. Dolph is in there. So is Me ...

Why Some Politicians Turn Down Free Money

Jul 15 2014 3:14pm CDT | Source: WNYC Music

All politicians are crooks, right? Not really. Sometimes, elected officials will surprise you by being genuinely self-sacrificing when it comes to compensation. Steve Novick, a city commissioner in Portland, Ore., just refused a $7,280 cost of living increase. He told The Oregonian accepting the raise "doesn't feel right." Turning down salary bumps has become something of a tradition among Portland officials — two of his fellow commissioners dec ...
